Call for Apprentices: National Breath of Life Digital Archive Training Program

Are you part of an Indigenous community using archival materials to revitalize your language and culture? National Breath of Life is offering paid apprenticeship opportunities to build and manage digital archives that support your community’s revitalization efforts.

Selected apprentices receive hands-on training and financial support to learn the Indigenous Languages Digital Archive (ILDA)—a tribally owned and maintained platform designed to organize, analyze, and prepare archival materials for use in community-based language programs.

Since 2021, our apprentices have reported a significant increase in:

  • Finding content and using archival materials for language revitalization
  • Mastering the ILDA Software
  • Building technical skills for managing data and supporting language programs

Applicants must demonstrate support from tribal governments and/or how this opportunity could positively impact their community.
